Sacrum
Two bodies treated as architecture, tension and ritual object.
The work
Sacrum is conceived as a paired work. The figures are not portraits so much as opposing structures: masculine and feminine, compression and release, distance and correspondence. Relief gives their bodies an objecthood that flat paint alone cannot carry.
Light and surface
Raking light is integral to the work. Shadows move across the raised planes throughout the day, altering the apparent expression and weight of each figure.
