The working studio
Thirty years in the
language of materials.
Jaret Pollard’s fine-art practice rests on more than three decades of working with materials, architectural surfaces, and specialist finishes.

The material foundation
Making is an
accumulation of decisions.
Material knowledge shapes the work from within: the building of form, the control of texture, the placement of pigment, and the way a surface meets light.
Here, relief becomes terrain. Colour becomes atmosphere. The imagined world begins with something physically built.
Each work moves through construction, sanding, priming, colour, raking-light checks and finish testing. UV and phosphorescent pieces are developed through repeated shifts between ordinary light, ultraviolet and darkness.

A physical practice
Built. Tested.
Changed in place.
The tools and accumulated marks belong to the process. They trace the distance between a finished image and the physical labour required to make it.
